Counsellor

Wow – so you are ready to explore change. I know how hard getting to this place can be. In my world, vulnerability = bravery!

I strongly believe that within pain and difficulties–if we are willing to enter into those difficulties – there are doorways to healing, resilience, and profound wisdom and insight. I am a collaborative ally, helping to create the safety that supports your nervous system, for healing and change. Fundamentally, when you can start to work with difficulties with the right safety and support, you can reconnect with your deepest inner capacities for change.

The foundations of my counselling practice are meditation and mindfulness. Mindfulness and Somatic work with a relational lens is my foundation for supporting individuals, couples and families through tough times. Why is mindfulness valuable? Slowing down from the hectic pace of life, and examining your present moment experience, can generate insight into the patterns, beliefs and problems that underpin behaviors. This insight can lead to change, and over time,
the transformation of difficulties.

Therapeutic Approaches: Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness principles, Narrative Therapy, Depth Psychology, Gestalt and IFS parts work, Neuro affirming practices, Systemic Family Therapy, and relational couples work.

Education: BA in Psychology UBC, MA Psychology Counselling City University, Certificate in Hakomi Somatic Psychotherapy Certificate Additional Training: MBCT, DBT, Hakomi, SFT, I have worked extensively in health care, primary care and mental health care settings with individuals from all walks of life. I am a strong ally and enjoy working with the LGTBQ2S+ communities. I am deeply committed to a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed practice, as well as anti-oppressive practice, and my ongoing educational choices reflect this.
