Counsellor

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) who provides a wholistic, trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive approach to treatment. I work with children, teenagers, adults and families, offering them a safe haven that they can use to explore their more profound truths.

Having travelled most of the world during my childhood, I expand my approach to different cultures, races and ethnicities, always giving my clients the comfort of home. I focus on implementing a wide range of strategies and techniques in therapy according to the presenting concern. I lend my ear and let my clients take the wheel, allowing them to be aware as well as present in the moment.

Therapeutic Approaches: I offer an empathetic, validating and emotionally aware approach to counselling. My work is guided by Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CB), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) and Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT). Additionally, my work often uses mindfulness-based techniques and an eclectic approach to therapy.

Degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology concentrating on Forensic Psychology (Carleton University), Masters of Arts in Forensic Psychology (The Chicago School of Professional Psychology), Masters of Administrative Sciences specializing in Emergency Management (Fairleigh Dickinson University).

Additional Training: Department of Child and Family Services – Mandated Reporter online training, Chicago School of Professional Psychology – Cultural Impact Conference, Illinois Medicaid CANS, Assessment of Suicidal Risk using Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), A course for Trauma Focused Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) (11 CEU), MMAI Model of Care/Medical Home and Person-Centered Approach Certification, Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation and Critical Incident Certificate, American Disabilities Act (ADA)/Independent Living Certificate, Nonviolent Crisis and Verbal Intervention Training – CPI Institute, CPR and AED Training – American Heart Institute.
