Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis. The Mental Health Commission of Canada reports that one in every five Canadians experiences a mental health problem within a given year. While we often know a lot about physical illness, there tends to be less knowledge about mental health or substance use problems. This lack of understanding leads to fear and negative attitudes towards individuals living with these problems. It prevents people from seeking help for themselves and from providing appropriate support to people around them.

Throughout this online course, you will gain a foundational knowledge of mental health, what are some contributing factors, what are some complications that accompany mental health and how can you help. You will learn about how to identify a crisis, respond, and bring in outside support as needed. In addition, we will talk about how you can take care of yourself to ensure you are feeling solid to be able to support others.

Who is this workshop for?

I tease when I say, “If you are a human who knows other humans — you should take it”. But I really mean that.

Life has ups and downs and times of difficulty. Just in the way so many people know how to attend to a physical health crisis — it can be incredibly beneficial to be equipped with the knowledge of how to attend to a mental health crisis.

It is very beneficial for anyone working with other humans, especially those in human resources, business management, who have loved ones who have struggled, or are working on the front lines as a support worker/care aide, and much more!

For non-profit organizations joining this workshop, please use the promo code NONPROFIT10 to save 10% on your registration.
